Children with cancer or blood disorders receive comprehensive, expert care at our Outpatient Care Center in Tampa.
When children are diagnosed with cancer, they need expert, compassionate care from a team that recognizes their unique needs. For children with all types of pediatric cancers and blood disorders, the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute team provides the expert care they need closer to home at our Outpatient Care Center in Tampa, Florida.
Our team includes physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, phlebotomists, and other support staff with deep experience in treating children with cancer and blood disorders.
Johns Hopkins All Children's Outpatient Care, Tampa
Appointments are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Appointments for some services, such as lab draws and some chemotherapy, are also available on Thursdays.

Because of our location, we serve patients not only in the immediate area, but many patients from surrounding areas like Lakeland and Polk County; Pasco, Hernando and north Pinellas counties, and Ocala in Marion County.
We are also the only pediatric affiliate of the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, and work with their physicians and researchers to better understand pediatric cancers and potential treatments.

Providers in several other specialties also see patients at the Tampa location. Our patients who may have additional, complex conditions requiring care from multiple specialists often don’t have to travel for additional care, and our physicians are able to work closely together from the same facility. Some of the other specialties available include cardiology, pulmonology, orthopaedic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, endocrinology and rehabilitation.
Meet Our Physicians
Irmel Ayala, MD
Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Ayala is the division chief of Hematology and director of the Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders Treatment Center at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. She also is the hematology leader of the Young Women Bleeding Disorders/Menorrhagia Clinic, which focuses on a multidisciplinary approach to bleeding symptoms in girls and young women. Dr. Ayala also is involved in the newly created Immune Dysregulation Clinic, which evaluates patients with autoimmune cytopenias in a multidisciplinary approach.
Kristin Lieb, MD MA
Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Lieb is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist in the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. She sees patients on the hospital’s main campus in St. Petersburg, Florida, and at Outpatient Care, Tampa. She joined the hospital staff in 2023.
Jonathan Metts, MD
Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Metts specializes in pediatric hematology/oncology in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute. He joined the hospital in 2016. He received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital through the University of South Florida Morsani School of Medicine. Dr. Metts then trained at Emory University School of Medicine as a pediatric hematology/oncology fellow.
Nick Park, MD
Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Park is a pediatric hematologist-oncologist at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital who primarily sees patients at the Outpatient Care location in Tampa. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children, where he also served as chief resident specializing in pediatric medicine. He completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Orange County and blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Stacie Stapleton, MD
Hematology/Oncology
Dr. Stapleton is the division chief of oncology and director of pediatric neuro-oncology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Dr. Stapleton joined the hospital in 2007 and is double-board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology. She has formal training in pediatric neuro-oncology. Dr. Stapleton is on the Pediatric Palliative Care Team at Johns Hopkins All Children’s and she specializes in symptom control and end of life care. She has been awarded numerous grants for phase I studies for patients with brain and spinal cord tumors as well as clinical research in pediatric palliative care. Dr. Stapleton’s research experience includes investigator-initiated and multi-center research projects.
